Senior Transportation Program
If you are in need of dependable, low cost transportation,
or if you need a van with a handicap lift, we may be able to assist you.
Cost is $3 each way or $6 round trip. Please see the guidelines below:
Who Qualifies?
Any Senior age 55+ or any person with a disability living
in the Village of Clarkston, Independence Township or Springfield Townships.
When Should I Call?
For medical appointments, call for a
ride when appointment is made. At least I day in advance
before 12 noon for other rides. Note that the schedule
may fill up two or more days in advance. First pick-up
is 8:15 AM and last pick-up is 4:00 PM.
What Should I Do?
Call 248-625-8231, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00
PM.
Where Can I Go:
Anywhere within Clarkston, Independence Township, or Springfield Townships and
the following:

Mal - Tuesdays
Pick up at home between 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Pick up from Meijer's at 1:30 PM

K-Mart in Waterford - Fourth
Thursday
Pick up at home between 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM
Pick up at K-Mart at 11:30 AM
You can also stay on the bus to the
Senior Center for Thursday lunch.

sure you request the ride home from lunch. Each 1-way
ride is $3.00.

included?
- Doctors' Hospital of Michigan (formerly North
Oakland)
- Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital
- Pontiac St. Joseph's Hospital
- New Clarkston Medical Building and Great Lakes
Cancer Center
A $5.00 fee each way is requested for hospital trips
out of the service area.
Procedures
- A potential rider must fill out a medical form
for our records before using this service.
- Riders must be ready 15 minutes in advance and
waiting at the door.
- Drivers cannot enter private residences or
assist clients in getting ready.
- Assistance with packages on the return will be
taken to the front door. The drivers are not
required to provide assistance.
- Wheelchair riders' residences must be accessible
or there must be someone home to bring the rider to
the vehicle. Drivers cannot bring wheelchairs over
door sills, downstairs or across grass or gravel.
- Riders' driveways must be salted and plowed in
inclement weather.
- Drivers will transport riders only to
destinations previously arranged. The driver will
not able to alter the schedule.
- The mini-buses cannot transport for medical
emergencies, (call 911), nor can they pick up or
deliver medications.
- Riders with cognitive impairments are advised to
have a caregiver accompany them.
- When arranging a ride in a wheelchair let the
dispatcher know that you need the handicap van.
- A $3 donation is requested for each one way
trip.
- Transportation is available for trips and most
senior adult evening programs
Our transportation service is funded through
government grants, Municipal Credits and Specialized
Services, riders' donations (which cover about 7% of the
cost), other donations and the Independence Township
General Fund. Springfield Township and the City of
Clarkston also contribute to the program.
