Parks and Facilities
All parks are free to enter, however there are user fees for the
Spraypark, Deer Lake Beach and Disc Golf.

Our Main Office is located on Waldon Center Drive, just East of
Sashabaw off of Waldon Rd. The Parks and Recreation Office is in the
lower level. All Township offices are handicap accessible. Township
Offices at this location are open Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
The Township is closed for Holidays.
All rentals need to be done in person at the Independence Twp Offices*. Before you come, please read over information below, specifically about Security Deposits. If you have more questions, call (248) 625-8223, Monday thru Friday.
*Senior Center or Carriage House rentals need to be done at the Senior Center.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance can I rent?
You can rent
up to one year in advance from your Event date.
Can I reserve a date over the phone?
You can
get availability of the date you are inquiring about over the phone,
but you must come in to make the reservation.
Is a Security Deposit required?
Yes, a $100
Security Deposit (in the form of a check) must be left for each
facility rented.
Can I get a refund or transfer my date?
If
the cancellation/transfer request by the applicant occurs more than
fourteen days (14) prior to the event: All transfers are subject to
a $20 administrative fee, pending the new date is available. All
transfers must be done in person, unless payment is made by VISA or
Mastercard. Call (248) 625-8223 for more information and to have a
Transfer Form faxed to you. In the case of a refund, the rental fee
minus $20 will be refunded along with the deposit. See above for
details. If the cancellation/transfer request by the applicant
occurs less than fourteen days (14) prior to the event: The entire
rental fee is forfeited and the deposit will be returned in full,
regardless of the reason for the cancellation, including inclement
weather. Absolutely no transfers.
Can I do the paperwork, but use someone else’s check?
Yes, however, the person who provides payment for the rental must be
a resident in order to get the resident rate.
With a Room Rental, can we come early to set-up?
Your rental should include enough time for set-up and
clean-up time. If you need more time, you will need to add it to
your rental.
With a Pavilion Rental, can we come early to set-up?
Pavilions, unless rented, are first come, first serve.
Your exclusive time begins at the time of your rental. Your rental
choices are: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 8:00
PM. If you choose to rent a ½ day rental, the pavilion cleaning
times are between 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM.
With a Room Rental, can we have more people that the
allotted amount in our contract?
No. Room capacities are
determined by the Independence Twp Fire Department.
With a Pavilion Rental, can we have more people that the
allotted amount in our contract?
No. Seating and parking
capacities are factored in to that number.
Are picnic tables included with my rental?
Yes, picnic table seating comes with your pavilion rental for the
number of persons indicated on your contract.
Are there electrical outlets at the Pavilions?
Yes. Sorry, no generators are allowed to be brought in.
Are there grills are all Pavilions?
Not all.
Grills are located at Sashabaw Plains’s pavilion, Bay Court
Pavilions (both) and Clintonwood Park’s South pavilion. There is not
a grill a Clintonwood’s North Pavilion. There are grills in the
grassy areas of Sashabaw Plains park.
Are there grills at the Beach?
There are two
grills in the grass at Deer Lake Beach.
Is the Spraypark or Disc Golf included in my rental?
No. There are separate fees to use the Spraypark & Disc Golf. Bay
Court Beach is however free.
Can I rent a moonwalk or inflatable?
All
third party contracts for moonwalks, etc are subject to approval at
the time of your rental. If approved, a Certificate of Insurance
will need to be provided within ten days of your signed contract.
Can I bring in my own tent?
All third party
contracts for tents, etc are subject to approval at the
time of
your rental. If approved, a Certificate of Insurance will need to be
provided within ten days
of your signed contract. Pop up tents
smaller than a 10x10ft, are allowed at the Spraypark.
Park Closing Hours
Memorial Day to Labor Day all parks will close at 9:00 PM
Pavilion rentals will only go to 8:00
PM.
The Tuesday after Labor Day weekend through the Friday before Memorial
Day Weekend, parks will be closing at 5:00 PM.
Clintonwood Park
6000 Clarkston Road
Clintonwood Park is 120 acres of open space. The park is open every day
with the exception of New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The park
features a fitness rail, basketball, 4 square and tennis courts, playground
and spraypark, baseball, softball and soccer fields, in-line skating rink,
volleyball and horseshoes.

Senior Center
6000 Clarkston Road
The Senior Center, located in Clintonwood Park on Clarkston Road, offers
trips, sports, crafts, music, cards, special dinners and parties, health
screenings, talks and much more. Daily services include meals for the
homebound, lunches at the center, and transportation for residents of
Clarkston, Independence and Springfield Township.
Reservations for the facilities listed below must be made at the Senior
Center. Call 248-625-8231 for hours, fees and availability
information.

Sashabaw Plains Park
5620 Maybee Road
Sashabaw Plains park is a 15-acre ark that is open during the year from
April through October 31. The park features a community built playground,
baseball fields, horseshoes, 4 square and basketball courts, volleyball,
picnic areas, andbathroom facilities.

Pavilion Hours: Memorial Day - Labor Day: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM., September –

Deer Lake Beach
350 White Lake Road
Deer Lake Beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, weather
permitting. Please call 248-625-8223 for hours. Trained Lifeguards supervise the beach. Fees are charged
for both the beach and boat launching facilities. Swimming lessons are held
throughout the summer. Park rules are posted at each entrance. Please
remember that all Township facilities are alcohol free and that all pets
must be leashed at all times when using any park facility.
Bay Court Park

Bay Court Park is a wonderful historic landmark that as been designed to
meet the growing needs of our community. The park is open every day with
the exception of New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Amenities
include: community built playscape, disc golf and bathrooms.
Bay Court Park Beach is open weather permitting, from 9:00am until 1 hour
before the park closes every day. There are NO LIFEGUARDS on duty, SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Ryan Schmidt Memorial Disc Golf Course
Dedicated July 21, 1998, the Ryan Schmidt Memorial Disc Golf
Course is a 9 hole Frisbee Golf Course, easy for participants of all
ability levels to enjoy. Bay Court Park is a terrific setting for
"golfers" and the Course is free of charge. Scorecards are available

1. What are the seasons/days/hours of operation of the
Disc Golf Course?
As of Friday, June 1st thru September
30th, admission costs to the course will be $3 per player, starting
at Noon daily. Mondays are FREE play all day. June-Labor
Day the course will be open until 8:00 PM. In September, the
course will close at 4:00 PM. Season passes can be purchased
for $25 per person. Admission paid on-site-Cash or Checks
only. Season passes may be purchased using Mastercard or Visa at the
Main Office. Check in at the Disc Shack, located west of the parking
lot.
2. Are there any changes expected to be made to the
Course?
No
3. Is the Park in Clarkston, Waterford, or Independence Twp.?
Bay Court Park is in Independence Township, but has a Clarkston
mailing address. The address to Bay Court Park is 6970 Andersonville
Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346
4. Are there Course maps available?
There are signs at each hole, detailing the par, distance and a
layout.
5. Is the building always open for the public to access
the restrooms and drinking fountain?
Yes, restrooms and
the drinking fountain are accessible during Park hours. We now offer
snacks and drinks in the Disc Shack, as well as demos of new discs
and disc for rent or purchase.
6. What is the dog policy for Bay Court Park?
Dogs are allowed, however, all dogs must be leashed and leash must
be in handlers possession at all times.
7. What is the alcohol policy for Bay Court Park?
No alcohol, Township Ordinance
8. Is there camping available at the Park?
No, the closest Camp Ground is Groveland Oaks Park through Oakland
County Parks
9. Who designed the Course?
