Overview
The Independence Township Parks and Recreation Department has
developed their own website to better assist residents. Please visit

Location
The Parks and Recreation Office is located at 6483 Walden Center
Drive in Clarkston in the lower level of the Township Offices. The
Senior Center is located in Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road.
Hours
The Parks and Recreation Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00AM -
5:00PM. April-August Wednesdays until 6:00PM. The Senior
Center is open Monday-Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Both offices are
closed on the following Holidays:

Calling All Volunteers
With the tightening of budgets across America,
all organizations are looking to save costs. For Parks and
Recreation Departments, volunteers have been the center of our
programs for years. Volunteers allow us to serve more people
with smaller budgets, bring new energy and ideas too! Because in
recent years volunteerism is up, we can still afford to provide
successful special events and beautiful parks in Independence
Township.
Whether you need community-based volunteer hours for high school
or college or for court appointed volunteer hours, Parks and
Recreation is the place to be. We provide many opportunities to
work outside and the unique opportunity to give back to the
community you live in, to make it a better place.
We have plenty of special events where your church, school, or
civic organization can make a difference in a successful
program. We’ll be sure to give you recognition!
Or perhaps you have an Eagle Scout Badge to earn? We have many
parks that need new signs or kiosks built, raised beds in our
Community Garden or trails that need improvements.
You can even volunteer your time to see if Parks and Recreation
is the profession you like to try!

 Recreation Guide
We mail out our Recreation Guide
three times a year to all Independence Township Residents. If you
are not a resident, call 248-625-8223 to get on our Mailing List. View our current Recreation Guide and register for programs by
clicking here. All our
activities are also posted on www.clarkstoncalendar.org.

 50 & Better
The Center is open Monday-Friday from
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM unless there is a program. Get more information
about Senior Programs by clicking on the 50+Adults to the left.
You can even download our monthly newsletter free! To receive the
Newsletter in your mailbox, call the number above to get on the
mailing list. There is a small fee. The Senior Center
